Retell Artificial intelligence does not create in isolation; it feeds on our collective memory, our mistakes, and our dreams. As Margaret Boden has observed, the intricate relationship between computers and creativity is continually tested by its ability to generate what is both unexpected and valuable. In artistic production, the difference between a “one-time” experience and “long-term” creation is no longer merely an aesthetic distinction; it also carries sociological and cultural significance. In today’s rapidly shifting world, AI now stands at the very heart of these debates on value. Artificial intelligence now confronts us not only as a tool, but as a transformative force, reshaping structures that stretch from migration and labor to social and economic inequalities, and even cultural policies. The question is no longer simply about producing an idea or an artwork; it lies in rethinkingthe very concept of value itself. Locality, participation, and balance beat at the heart of value making. Our era makes it clear that digital innovation must take root on democratic, sustainable, and transparent ground. The social and economic realities being shaped by AI cannot remain confined to the narrow corridors of tech corporations they must unfold through a horizon oriented toward the public good, collective imagination, and inclusivity. Within its sixth edition, the festival expands from Africa to Asia, aiming tobring audiences into contact with unexpected and experiential forms of storytelling. This year, AI emerges not only as a means of reproducing technology, but as a tool to retell to re-narrate and to internalize it through experiential practices. Far more than an instrument, AI has become the key to new modes of thought, new forms of action, and collective imagination. In this critical environment, the festival seeks to revisit both individual creativity and collective memory from broader and more inclusive perspectives. Art and its critique continue to serve as both a reflective mirror and a transformative power reconstructing society’s sense of value. Through this lens, the sixth edition of the Istanbul Digital Art Festival poses the following questions: What is value? For whom, and how is it created? And where does artificial intelligence position itself within this new social narrative?
